About Us
West Virginia's Helping is a non-profit coporation founded in 1999 by Pamela E. Lindsay and Richard D. Lindsay for the purpose of enhancing the educational experience of children in West Virginia through various programs.
West Virginia's Helping is entirely made up of volunteers.
Volunteers at school play an important role in supporting and enhancing the educational experience for students. They provide additional resources, such as tutoring and mentoring, that can help students succeed academically. Additionally, volunteers provide support for extracurricular activities, such as sports teams and clubs, which helps to promote a sense of community and belonging among students.
Providing free shoes to low-income children is also important because it addresses a basic need that can have a significant impact on a child's life. Shoes are essential for children's physical development, as well as for their social and emotional well-being. Without proper shoes, children may be at risk for injuries or infections, and may also face discrimination or bullying from their peers. By providing free shoes, West Virginia's Helping, ensures that children have the necessary resources to succeed in school and in life. For the past 20 years, West Virginia’s Helping has provided new shoes to students in Kanawha and Putnam Counties. Our programs is cost effective with 100% of contributions allocated towards helping kids. No one with our organization is paid. Each year we are humbled by your extreme generosity and understanding of what a new pair of shoes can mean to a student and family. Amid a worldwide pandemic the need this year is greater than ever and we appreciate your donation.
Many of the kids West Virginia's Helping assists only have one pair of shoes. Their shoes are worn out, handed down, too big or too small, and even held together by tape. In addition to shoes each shoe box is filled with socks, toys, school supplies, personal hygiene items, books, and in some cases when needed, a coat and winter clothing.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to assist us in helping to make a positive difference in these children's lives. When students receive new shoes that fit properly, you are also giving them a sense of hope, dignity, and joy. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization
Again, thank you for your help, in making a difference in the areas in which we live and work. Special Note*We only accept shoe requests through schools. Also, please understand, that we currently do not have the resources to help with utilities or rent assistance.
